An accident caused four miles of queues on the A1 near Tuxford.

The A1 northbound carriageway of the busy road was closed after the incident, which happened at around 2.54pm today, Thursday, July 11.

It caused slow moving traffic between the B1164 Ashvale Road and the A57 Cliff Gate.

One lane was closed as a result of the incident.

Eyewitness reports suggested that an air ambulance was deployed to the scene of the crash.
