News: Emergency services rush to crash on A1 slip road

Emergency services have been called to a collision on a slip road off the A1 near Newark.

The crash, which took place at just after 1.30pm today, Friday, June 14, led to several 999 response vehicles rushing to the scene.

They were called after reports that a car had hit a barrier on the slip road on to the B6326 northbound from the A1 at Balderton and one man needed treatment on an injured arm.

East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) confirmed it sent a paramedic and a LIVES first responder to the scene, while Nottinghamshire Police confirmed its officers were called to attend.

There had been reports the crash blocked one lane on the slip road, although this did not affect traffic greatly.

A spokesperson for EMAS said: “We received a call at 1.32pm today to the A1. The caller reported an RTC. We sent a LIVES responder and a paramedic in an ambulance car and treated patients on scene.”

A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Police said: “Officers were called at 1.43pm on Friday, June 14, 2019 following reports of a car hitting a barrier on the slip road B6326 northbound from the A1.

“It’s believed one man has an arm injury. The road is clear.”
