News: Firefighters rush in as former pub goes up in flames

Another Lincolnshire Highlights news story…

Firefighters have rushed to battle a blaze at former pub for the second time this year.

Dramatic pictures show fire crews at Ropery Inn on Ropery Road in Gainsborough last night, Wednesday August 14.

Crews from Gainsborough, Saxilby and an aerial ladder from Lincoln South were all dispatched to the scene.

No injuries were reported after the fire at the now derelict building – which has been left empty for more than two years.

This comes after the same pub was on fire in March this year.

West Lindsey District Council had also approved plans to demolish the former pub and build 14 new apartments on the site in July this year.

The council said this would help give life back to an ‘increasingly unsightly and damaged’ site.
