Boston Borough Council has released images of the public toilets in Boston after they were trashed by vandals.

The toilets next to Central Park in Boston were trashed overnight by vandals.

It come just over a week after the council re-opened the public toilets for 24 hours a day in an attempt to crack down on street urination and defecation.

Council workers discovered the trashed toilets as they went about their cleaning duties on Wednesday, September 11.

A council statement read: “The council responded rapidly to community concerns about people urinating in the streets of Boston so we opened our toilets 24/7.

“Then look what happens, mindless vandalism, this happened just last night!

“Our toilet attendants arrived this morning and had to deal with this mess.

“Would you put up with this?”

Vandalism was part of the reason that the toilets were closed overnight in the town, but the council has been placed under increased pressure to re-open the facilities after a spate of public urination.

Members of the public have taken to Facebook to condemn the vandals.

One woman said: “This is exactly what I thought would happen.

“Unfortunately they need closing before all the money is spent on rectifying this damage.

“It’s disgraceful behaviour and extremely sad.

“It shows us what sort of people we are dealing with.”

One man said: “Need the streets policing.

“Need no tolerance and being held accountable again. Well done to Maxine and the other lady for trying.

“Let’s not give up. Maybe CCTV can help.”

One woman said: “Well, we obviously now need security etc to patrol out town I guess.

” I didn’t think Boston would end up like this.

“I’m speaking for the younger generation.

“How are we supposed to live happily and secure when the town is ending up like this?

“It’s not safe anymore.”

One woman said: “I didn’t think this would solve people using the streets as toilets.

“Most pictures of people urinating have been during the day when the toilets are open.

“There is no excuse for pure vandalism.

“But I no longer use these toilets anyway as the cleanliness has gone downhill.

“I don’t mind paying to use the toilets and more than 20p if need be but for clean, well-maintained toilets.”

Another man condemned the toilets re-opening overnight, saying: “As we thought, all-night loos are not the answer.

“It’s the street drinkers that do the urinating in the streets. This is where the problem is. They need to be stopped and punished.”
