A ceramic mosaic artwork created by community groups in Leasingham will finally be unveiled after two years of work.

Created to be displayed within the wildlife patch at the village hall, each clay tile was shaped and glazed by people from the Leasingham and District Gardening Group under the guidance of artsNK.

Lying around two miles north of Sleaford , the village lies on the dip slope of the limestone escarpment known locally as the Heath.

Approached from various directions, the first view visitors will glimpse of Leasingham is the spire of St Andrew’s Church nestled amongst the farmland.

It is this image of Leasingham that the art installation depicts together with wildlife that characterises the village in summer.

The artwork will be unveiled at Leasingham Village Hall at a special celebration event later this month.

Marion Sander, programme manager for NCCD/artsNK, said: ‘The beautiful ceramic mosaic artwork for Leasingham has been developed and created over a period of two years.

“The unique and imaginative rendering of Leasingham ’s landscape in ceramics shows the extraordinary work, passion and commitment of everyone who took part in the making and management of the project, from design to installation.

“Leasingham’s ceramic mosaic is another original contribution to the expansive palette of inspiring community and professional artworks that can be found across the North Kesteven District.’

artsNK and members of the Leasingham District and Gardening Group will be offering a drop-in pottery activity during the official opening.

This project is funded by the Village Hall Committee, artsNK and the National Centre for Craft and Design.
