News: Pair break into house and slash man and woman with knife

A man and woman were slashed with a knife after a break-in at a house in Newark.

The woman, 45, was also hit on the head with a ceramic mug after two men burst into the house in Philip Road at 7.42pm on January 18.

The male victim, 49, suffered slash wounds to his arms and head while the female victim sustained slash injuries to her hands as she defended herself.

Both were taken to hospital where the injuries were described as not life-threatening or life-altering.

However, the pair were left extremely shaken.

Now two men have been convicted of the crime.

John Price, 32, formerly of Turner Lane, Boughton, was found guilty of aggravated burglary, causing grievous bodily harm with intent and causing actual bodily harm following a three-day trial at Nottingham Crown Court, which concluded yesterday, Wednesday, August 14.

His co-accused, 22-year-old Joseph Lee, formerly of Bowbridge Lane, Balderton , pleaded guilty to the same offences, as well as possession of a bladed article, at a previous hearing.

They have both been remanded in custody to appear at Nottingham Crown Court for sentencing on September 5.
