Five fire crews were called to Main Road in Tallington near Stamford last night, Thursday, August 15, after ten acres of field went up in flames.

Three crews from Market Deeping, Stamford and Spalding as well two from Cambridgeshire were called to tackle the blaze just after 3pm.

Firefighters battled to put out the fire for several hours using 16 beaters and six hose reel jets.

The flames were out just after 6pm.

Pictures of the field after the fire show a large amount of scorch marks and a large percentage of the grass destroyed.

One of the fire engines called to the scene can also be seen on the side of the road.

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue has confirmed there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the fire as it was caused by a bird striking an overhead electric pylon.
