Around 20 jobs could be created if a drive-thru Costa Coffee is given the go-ahead.

Plans have been submitted for the coffee chain just off the A16 where a KFC has already been approved.

The land sits in front of the Spalding bakery site, diagonally opposite the McDonald’s.

If given the go-ahead by South Holland District Council, it could create up to 20 new full-time jobs.

The site is on land west of the A151 and A16 junction on the eastern edge of Spalding and was submitted by SME Group PLC.

Permission has already been granted for a drive-thru KFC on the site.

Within the plans there will also be 21 car parking spaces and cycle parking, as well as some disabled spaces.

Information submitted in plans to the council says: “The coffee shop will be positioned in the eastern part of the site, parallel to the adjoining site for the KFC.

“The single storey building will provide 180m floor space and have an enclosed yard to the side.

“It will incorporate a flat roof and use a palette of materials including timber effect panels for the walls with large areas of glazing to the customer areas.

“Customer toilets will be provided, including a disabled toilet.”
