News: Police release update after body found on Skegness beach

Another Lincolnshire Highlights news story…

Police say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of a man whose body was found on a Skegness.

A local man in his 40s was discovered unresponsive on the beachfront at Grand Parade at 5.40am yesterday morning, Sunday, April 14.

Police quickly arrived at the scene and confirmed he had died.

The force released a statement yesterday saying they couldn’t rule out a medical episode, but said the death was being treated as ‘unexplained’.

However, police have today, April 15, said the cause was a ‘sudden death’ and have said there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding how the man died.

The news that a body had been found had left a lot of people in the town in shock yesterday.

Barry Robinson told Lincolnshire Live: “It is not nice to hear of any deaths on the beach.

“A death is never good whether it is a seaside town or not.

“You have got to feel sorry for the relatives.”

“The beach is pretty well used.”

Councillor Mark Anderson said he was shocked to hear about the tragic incident.

“It is very, very sad. We are all shocked in Skegness to hear about it,” he said.

“We don’t know the circumstances but someone out there has lost a son.

“We are all heartbroken.”

A number of well-wishers all paid their respects on Lincolnshire Live’s Facebook page.

Suzanne Hoskins wrote: “Thoughts are with the poor man’s family and friends. RIP.”

Michelle Radburn commented: “How sad. Thoughts with family and friends concerned.”

Sharon Louise posted: “Aww very sad. Thoughts [go to] the family.”
