Another Lincolnshire Highlights news story…

The owner of a popular Lincoln tourist attraction has announced that she will be selling the business and says she wants a new owner to continue its legacy.

The Brayford Belle has been a staple feature of the Brayford Waterfront in Lincoln for almost 20 years and operates under the wider business Lincoln Boat Trips.

Owner Monna Owen, took over running the business in 2013 after her husband and former owner Paul Owen died following a short-term illness.

After six years at the helm, Monna says it’s time to pass on her husband’s legacy to someone new.

She said: “I want people to know that the business is still going to carry on.

“It is up for sale but the new owner will be expected to carry on the business and Paul’s legacy.

“I’ll be sad to see it go but I think it’s time for me now. I’m planning for my early retirement and now feels like the right time.

“I want to make it clear that the business will still be running.”

In 2015, Monna and her daughter Vicky launched Paul’s legacy, a water taxi business set up in memory of Paul who passed away before he had the chance to fulfil his dream of setting up a water taxi in the city.

“I have absolutely no regrets,” said Monna.

“I would like to thank the people of Lincoln for being so supportive over the last few years. We’ve had parties of people come from all over the world, including France and Germany and we’ve had many regular customers.

“I’d also really like to thank the harbour master Keith, the Sea Cadets, Lincoln BIG and Michael Armstrong for all they have done for us.

“It has meant so much to me to be able to honour Paul by carrying on his legacy. That was enough for me.

“I know that Paul would be so proud.”

The Lincoln Boat Trips business is currently up for sale for £235,000.
