News: Take a peek inside Lincoln’s new tapas and cocktail bar

A new tapas restaurant and cocktail bar has opened in the heart of Lincoln.

Cicchetti in Guildhall Street is looking forward to its first weekend of trading after it opened for the first time on Thursday, July 11.

It replaces a former Italian restaurant Pomodoro e Basilico, which closed in May and has now reopened after a £100,000 revamp.

Roxanne Whittaker, manager, said: “We serve tapas from all over the world and we have a great selection of cocktails.

“We just want to have a more relaxed way of eating.

“I think something like this would be very welcome down this end of town and we are open to people who may only want to come in for a quick bite or for fully set meals.

“We can offer tables from two to 10.

“We are here to listen to the customers and so we’ll see how it goes in terms of menu, there may be a few tweaks here and there.”

The restaurant serves a mixture of Spanish, Greek and Italian tapas and from further afield.

Offerings from the menu include Deep Fried Blanchbait in Garlic Mayo, Pan Seared Pigeon Breast and Mango Puree, and Seared Lamb’s Liver with Onion Gravy served on toasted Sour Dough.

The restaurant will be open from noon to 10pm, Monday to Sunday.

A representative of restaurant owner, Saied Bakhshalian, had previously told Lincolnshire Live that the change from Italian to tapas was due to the number of Italian Restaurants in the area.

TripAdvisor had 24 establishments that are listed under ‘Italian restaurants’

Included on the list is Bar Unico, La Bottega Delitalia and Café Portico.
