Bookies release front-runners for next Lincoln City manager to replace Cowley brothers

Sports: Bookies release front-runners for next Lincoln City manager to replace Cowley brothers

More exciting sports news from around Lincolnshire…

The Cowley brothers dugout seats may still be warm but the bookies have already drafted a list of managers who may take over at Sincil Bank.

From former Imps players to former Premier League managers with promotion credentials.

Sky Bet has compiled a list with three names as joint favourite at odds of 5/1.

Imps legend Gareth Ainsworth – the Wycombe Wanderes boss – is among the front-runners and his appointment would certainly go down well with the fans.

Newport County manager Michael Flynn would also be a popular addition after guiding the Exiles to the League Two Play-off final.

Former Bolton Wanderers manager Phil Parkinson is also one the front-runners after resigning from the League One strugglers who have been plagued with off the field problems.

Nigel Adkins is at 9/1, making him Sky Bet’s fourth choice manager, with under-pressure Stoke City boss Nathan Jones coming in at 10/1.

Interim manager Jamie McCombe will take over first team affairs until a new management team is appointed. He is 12/1 to become the next Imps manager.

Other names such as Sol Campbell (14/1), Graham Alexander (16/1), Nigel Clough (16/1) and recently-appointed England coach Chris Powell make up the rest of the shortlist.

Former Notts County boss Kevin Nolan is currently at 18/1, while former Peterborough and Mansfield boss Steve Evans is 25/1.

Other betting websites may offer different odds and they are subject to change, but these odds are correct at the time of reporting.
