Former Lincoln City skipper Luke Waterfall has signed for Lincolnshire rivals Grimsby Town.

The centre-half who led City to the National League title and the Checkatrade Trophy victory in 2018 has signed for the Mariners on a two-year-deal.

Waterfall joined the Imps under the stewardship of Chris Moyses on a two-year contract from Wrexham.

The talismanic centre half was appointed club captain and scored 11 goals during his three-year spell at Sincil Bank.

Waterfall signed for Shrewsbury Town for an undisclosed fee on August 7, 2018, and made 54 appearances at the Shrews before cancelling his contract by mutual consent.

The former Imp had two years remaining on his contract but Shrews manager Sam Ricketts wasn’t able to guarantee him regular football.

He will now link up with former Imps Elliott Whitehouse who famously scored the winner at Wembley in the Checkatrade Trophy final, and Matt Green on the North Lincolnshire coast.
