Morrell makes senior Wales debut

Lincoln City midfielder Joe Morrell made his senior debut for Wales in a friendly against Belarus in Cardiff on Monday night.

Wales won 1-0 with Morrell playing the full 90 minutes. Manchester United’s Daniel James scored the only goal

The 22-year-old, who is on a season-long loan deal from Bristol City, was unused substitute in Friday’s Euro 2020 qualifier against Azerbaijan. Wales won 2-1 thanks to a late winner from Gareth Bale.

Vickers up for award

Josh Vickers has been nominated for the League One Player of the Month Award for August.

The Imps goalkeeper is up against Rochdale striker Ian Henderson, Ipswich Town forward Kayden Jackson and Peterborough United midfielder.

The winner will be announced on Friday.

New date for Man United game

A new date for the Imps’ Leasing.com Trophy clash against Manchester United U21s at Sincil Bank has been confirmed.

The Imps were due to host the Red Devils youngsters in Northern Group H of the competition on Tuesday, August 27.

But after City reached the second round of the Carabao Cup, the match had to be rearranged.

It will now take place on Tuesday, October 1 (7.45pm kick-off).
